One of our longtime singer songwriters, Jim Higby passed away on May 12, 2020. He was a regular around the campfire at Kenny Grove and more recently at Saturday at Simon’s.
From his daughter, Jodie Lea Anders : “Heaven has a new angel. My dad James Higby passed away this morning from various heart, kidney and lung complications after a courageous battle. I had so much left I wanted to do with my dad. He was a really cowboy-like hero to me, a man of hard work and integrity. He taught me so much and I cannot imagine life without him.
I am going to hold a memorial for my dad James Higby on June 18, 2021 at 3pm at the Masonic
Center in Van Nuys, California. Anyone is welcome (though a head count is appreciated).
Please note: The building is asking you are either vaccinated or have a negative covid test within
72 hours. We will have a memorial, memorabilia and photos, BBQ dinner, a small car show
(anyone is welcome to bring their cars and dads cars will be there!) and a music jamboree (feel
free to bring your instruments).
I’m sure dad would be all for everyone dressing comfortably
so casual is fine! I just want to

celebrate his life the way he would. Please feel free to ask any questions. Also please feel free to
share this post or let friends and family know as I don’t have direct connections to everyone.
Thank you to all who have prayed for him and loved him. You mean the world to him and to me. “
