Shirley Brown

Shirley was a wife, mother & grandmother.

I knew Shirley as a ukulele and guitar player. I first met her after she and Bill went on a Hawaiian cruise and were introduced to the ukulele. They soon joined our weekly Java Joe’s ukulele circle. She and Bill signed up for the ukulele class I was teaching at Ventura College Community Services. Shirley was quickly bitten by the bug and started acquiring ukuleles and guitars. She then joined Songmakers and was a regular at hoots and Kenny Grove campouts. After our weekly gathering moved to Ventura Library, Shirley was always ready to lead the session if I was traveling. She was always quick to offer assistance to fellow players. Chris and I did several camping trips and cruises with Shirley and Bill.

Shirley was a dear friend whose spirit and enthusiasm will be missed by all who knew her. As Hawaiians say Shirley lived and practiced the Aloha spirit.

Memory above from her good friend, Alan Ferentz
